Fulham defender Brede Hangeland is hopeful he will agree a new deal to end speculation over his future
The Norway international has been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage this summer with a host of top clubs credited with an interest in him.
Fulham are keen to keep the 27-year-old and have opened talks over a new contract in a bid to ward off rival interest.
Hangeland, who was one of the best performers in this season's Barclays Premier League, insists he is happy at Fulham and is relishing the prospect of playing in Europe next term with Roy Hodgson's troops.
right direction
Hangeland told the club's offical website: "There's been speculation but as far as I know there's no serious interest and I will repeat it again, I am really happy at Fulham.
"The prospect of playing here for another season with a European campaign is something I look forward to very much.
"Hopefully we can agree a new contract and then I'll stay here for a long time. It's been going in the right direction since the moment I came here. I hope we can agree on something soon.
"I knew Roy Hodgson from before my move to Fulham. As soon as I came here I noticed it was a great club but obviously last year was tough.
"If we had got relegated it would have been a very different story but after that we've taken it step by step and it's been a bit of a fairytale season.
"I remember when Roy first called me back in January last year and said to me, 'if only we can avoid relegation this year then this could be a great club'. I've always had that in the back of my mind and this season we've realised that potential.
"Now it's about doing that again next year which will be hard because everyone knows all about us."
