Kenwyne Jones struck twice within a minute to hand managerless Sunderland a precious lead.

The Trinidad and Tobago international headed home Andy Reid's 22nd-minute cross, and then added a second from close range seconds later after keeper Scott Carson was beaten at the third attempt.

Andy Reid headed another before Djibril Cisse scored from the penalty spot to complete the rout.
