Gary Cahill helped put the finishing touches to the refurbishment work at Fox Street Youth Club in Bolton.
As the winners of a national application process for Premier League initiative Creating Chances, Fox Street Youth Club received £4,000 to help them re-decorate and improve the facilities that are currently on offer to the young people of Horwich.
The majority of the adolescents who enter Fox Street have fallen into the drug scene and the money donated by the Premier League will go some way to providing specialist workshops on drug and alcohol awareness, sexual health information and advice on healthy eating and exercise.
The team at Fox Street Youth Club are also working hard to involve the wider community to build a more positive relationship between generations by holding coffee evenings and eventually bingo classes and yoga sessions.
community work
Cahill's time at Fox Street was spent helping to finish the painting work in the 'Discussion Room' and interacting with the members at the coffee bar and joining in with play activities.
Cahill said, "It's fantastic for everyone who lives in this area that Bolton Wanderers and the Premier League have been able to give these young people a safe and secure place to go in the evening to ensure they stay off the streets and keep out of trouble."
The event is in connection with Creating Chances- the Barclays Premier League's flagship community programme which engages communities and supporters across the UK. Creating Chances aims to highlight the extensive community work which takes place throughout every season and bring this work to the forefront.
