The visit to Castle Hill was designed to promote the excellent community work that is carried out there by Bolton Wanderers in connection with Creating Chances.

Kickz has been running for two years at Castle Hill and has provided activities for more than 700 young people aged 10-19.

It is a multi agency scheme headed by BW Football in the Community working alongside the police and youth services on a self referral basis but people are also signposted from The Prince's Trust, Connexions and Youth Offending teams.

The scheme was set up in Castle Hill on police advice as it was a recognised hot spot for anti-social behaviour and it has since helped reduce the incidents of juvenile crime by a third and has established better links across the community with local residents and police.

Gretar's time at Castle Hill was spent playing table tennis and pool with the young people, manning the coffee bar and overseeing coaching sessions.

Steinsson said, "It's great to be able to come down here and see the facilities that are on offer to the young people of Bolton to encourage them to keep off the streets and out of trouble."

The event was in connection with Creating Chances- the Barclays Premier League's flagship community programme which engages communities and supporters across the UK.

Creating Chances aims to highlight the extensive community work which takes place throughout every season and bring this work to the forefront.
