The club organised football tournaments and Be Safe Workshops for young boys and girls in the local community

The clubs' Croatian International, Eduardo participated in the Premier League 's Places for Players initiative, which aims to highlight the continued and increasing commitment the 20 Barclays Premier League clubs have to their local communities.

The London Week of Peace (LWOP) is an annual week of high profile events, initiatives and action organised principally by communities and individuals but also engaging organisations, businesses and public agencies, to promote greater community cohesion, safety and peace across the capital.

Participants in Arsenal 's Kickz project, a programme that brings together the football industry with police and other partners to help young people realise their potential, and youngsters from Positive Futures, a project which sees Arsenal in the Community coaches coaching on nine estates around the Borough, came together to play football in organised teams during the evenings this week at Elthorne Park and Rosemary Gardens.

Teams from Islington Police took part in the tournaments. Be Safe workshops featured during this special week helping to provide young people with realistic information on gun and knife-related issues.

Freddie Hudson of Arsenal in the Community said: "Arsenal in the Community is delighted with its contribution to the London Week of Peace and particularly proud to draw attention to many positive aspects to the activities in Islington.

"It was great to see young people travelling to other parts of the borough to mix with each other in organised activities. It was also encouraging to see them engage with the police in such a constructive way."

Superintendent John Sutherland , Partnership and Operations for Islington Police added: "The safety of young people in Islington remains the overriding priority for the local police.

"Our long-standing and effective partnership with Arsenal is a vitally important element of our response to the ongoing community concerns regarding this issue - and the chance to combine the excellent work of the Kickz programme with the key messages of the London Week of Peace is one that we did want to miss."

London Week of Peace's theme for this year was DREAMS (Developing Real Examples and Mentors) and this is reflected in Arsenal 's social inclusion projects since many of the Arsenal in the Community staff and scheme volunteers have come through the initiatives themselves and understand the challenges faced by young people growing up in an inner-city.
