The Magpies showed tremendous spirit to battle their way to three crucial points courtesy of two Obafemi Martins goals in the second half.

Newcastle took the lead on the hour mark when Martins collected a pass on the right edge of the penalty area and wriggled inside before firing left-footed into the bottom corner.

With eight minutes remaining the Geordies made it 2-0 after Martins converted from close range following terrific work from Jonas Gutierrez down the left.
