The Blackburn Rovers skipper joined up with a group of school children as part of the Premier League's Creating Chances campaign.

Pupils from Daisyfield school in Blackburn were given the task of brightening up the Education Department by painting pictures of their Rovers heroes as part of a project organised by the club's Community Trust.

The event proved a big success with the budding artists, who were given a helping hand with their paintings by a real life Rovers star.

Nelsen said: "It was great fun. I thought the paintings were amazing and they'll really add some colour to Ewood Park.

"Some of the pictures were frighteningly life-like - I particularly liked the one of Roque Santa Cruz!

"It's just great to get involved in projects like this because it's a great way of encouraging kids to learn through football."
