Scans have shown that the Russia international has a partially torn ankle ligament.

The Russia international was forced off during Spurs' defeat by Hull City at the weekend and a closer inspection has shown the problem is likely to keep him out until the end of October.

"Roman will now undergo further treatment on the ankle after specialists declared him unfit to play for the next three weeks," said a Spurs statement.

Due to the international break, Spurs' next fixture is not until 18th October against Stoke City, but he is set to miss that match along with the fixtures against Udinese and Bolton Wanderers the following Thursday and Saturday respectively.

Meanwhile, Aaron Lennon has been forced to pull out of the England under-21 squad with a knee injury.
