Hull City's Craig Fagan is out for up to three months after sustaining a broken leg.
Fagan sustained the injury after a challenge from Newcastle United's Danny Guthrie on Saturday, with the midfielder sent-off for the foul.
The striker got up from the challenge but left St James' Park on crutches and an x-ray later showed a fracture of the right tibia.
player down
Hull won the match 2-1 thanks to a double from Marlon King, and Brown will need the striker to continue that form now that he is a player down following Fagan's injury.
Hull host Everton this Sunday in the Barclays Premier League.
