The Northern Ireland international's first top-flight strike gave West Brom a 3-2 win at The Hawthorns, but while the 23-year-old is happy with his side's attacking threat, he is concerned about their defensive frailties.

"It's massive to get that first win under our belts - let's hope we can kick on with that next week," Brunt said.

not scoring

"We probably played better in the previous two league games and also gave away two sloppy goals. That's something we'll have to work on.

"Obviously, when you're not scoring goals early in the season it's vital when you have one up front you score goals from midfield and we did that.

"We do need to improve our defending. We can't afford to concede like we did on Saturday every week but we also played good football and created chances."
