Brown swooped to sign the Guinea international defender on a season-long loan from Swiss side Young Boys Berne on transfer deadline day.

great news

Brown believes Zayatte's arrival is a clear sign that the Tigers can compete in the market with their more established counterparts.

He said: "He [Zayatte] was with Everton first and then Newcastle in the same week and we were fortunate enough to get hold of him.

"It was interesting that we could compete with clubs like Everton and Newcastle, that's great news for us.

"But it's not just competing in the transfer market that we need. We need to be competing on the field. I would have no qualms about playing him but it will depend on his fitness."
