Liverpool missed out on the chance to go top after a goalless draw against Aston Villa.
Reds manager Rafael Benitez was dealt a blow in the first-half when star striker Fernando Torres was substituted after picking up a hamstring injury.
John Carew came closest to winning the match for Villa, while David Ngog - a replacement for Torres - was only inches too high with a chip for Liverpool.
Overall defences dominated and Benitez will be disappointed that his side were unable to muster a shot on target.
