A review of the news from around the grounds of each Barclays Premier League club.
Arsenal - Arsene Wenger has suggested his Arsenal side did not perform as well as they could have done during the 1-0 defeat to Fulham. He said: "We lacked a bit more quality in our passing. When you look at the possession we had and what we did with it that is always a sign it is not only down power but vision and technical quality. That was not there today. I don't know why. You have to give credit to Fulham as well."
Aston Villa - Defender Curtis Davies wants his Villa side to bounce back quickly following their 3-2 defeat to Stoke City in the Barclays Premier League. He said: "We are bitterly disappointed. It was always going to be a battle and we lost the battle. We need to be stronger and see games out. We need to bounce back against FH Hafnarfjordur and then it's the big one against Liverpool."
Blackburn Rovers - Roque Santa Cruz has spoken of his delight in signing a new deal with Rovers. He said: "I am very happy because we got an agreement with the people from the club. I was also trying to push it so we could get the deal done because people were talking too much about situations which weren't really there. Now I can just focus now on Blackburn and football, I'm 100 per cent a Blackburn player."
Bolton Wanderers - Andy O'Brien has been reflecting on Bolton's rued opportunities to score in the side's 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United. "Everybody will look at the penalty and say the game could've been different but we had other opportunities as well," said O'Brien. "I thought we had enough opportunities to win the game."
Chelsea - Luiz Felipe Scolari is delighted to have won his first Chelsea match outside of Stamford Bridge. Despite acknowledging his side were not at their best in the 1-0 victory against Wigan Athletic, Scolari sees the side's second consecutive win as a great confidence boost. He said: 'It's fantastic for Chelsea because we have more confidence and six points. We didn't play the same as last week but I understand why not."
Everton - After scoring his 100th goal in English football in the 1-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion, Yakubu has vowed to keep scoring for Everton. "It's a great feeling to score 100 goals in English football," he said. "I just want to score goals to help the team finish in Europe again."
Fulham - Striker Eddie Johnson has been sent on loan to Championship side Cardiff City. The USA international has joined the Bluebirds for the whole of the 2008/09 season, but Fulham have the option of recalling him in January.
Hull City - After the Tigers picked up four points from their first two matches in the Barclays Premier League, Sam Ricketts has revealed Hull's good start to the season is the result of the squad's morale. "Maybe we have surprised a few people. I don't know. We're a good unit and as a team we work extremely hard for each other. That is one of our major strengths. The biggest thing we know is that you can't afford to switch off. The players attacking you are top quality and if you give them half a chance, you'll get punished."
Liverpool - Striker Robbie Keane says Liverpool have learnt how to win ugly, and thinks it is a skill they will need if they are to find title success in the Barclays Premier League. "Football is about winning, it doesn't matter how well you play so long as you come off the pitch having picked up the points," he said.
Manchester City - New boy Vincent Kompany enjoyed a happy debut during City's 3-0 victory over West Ham United on Sunday. He said: "I just loved it. I enjoyed it 100 per cent - lots of duels, lots of energy. I loved it in midfield but a job had to be done in defence [once Micah Richards had gone off injured]. That's why the trainer [Mark Hughes] took me, because he can count on me in different positions."
Manchester United - Former Red Devil Lou Macari is impressed that the 34-year-old Ryan Giggs is still churning out top class performances. "Each season you look for a sign that Ryan has lost a bit of movement or quality in his play," he said. "But it never ceases to amaze me, there's very little change at all. We've been privileged to watch those electric runs down the wing for a long time. There's no denying that you slow down as you get older but, I have to say, Ryan's not slowing down as quickly as most."
Middlesbrough - Manager Gareth Southgate is hoping his side's self-belief has grown after narrowly losing 2-1 to Liverpool at Anfield. Boro went down to late goals from Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard after Mido had put them ahead. "Hopefully what everyone will take from it is tremendous belief," he said. "We pushed a top four side away from home right to the end and we deserved to get something from the game in my opinion."
Newcastle United - The club are awaiting news about the injuries sustained by Obafemi Martins and Damien Duff in the 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. Martins picked up a groin strain and was replaced by goalscorer Michael Owen after 53 minutes while Duff did not appear for the second-half after sustaining a knock on the knee.
Portsmouth - Manager Harry Redknapp has put the emphasis on work ethic ahead of Monday night's Barclays Premier League match against Manchester United. We need to work as hard or harder than they do - there's no other way to beat Manchester United. If you think you can go out and out-play them then you're in for a rude awakening. You've got to match their work-rate.We didn't do that last week against Chelsea and that's why we were well beaten."
Stoke City - Manager Tony Pulis was delighted after the 3-2 win over Aston Villa. "It was a great result because they are one of the better sides in this division. They have quality players in all areas of the pitch but we battled, showed great determination and played some very nice football and in the end deserved our victory."
Sunderland - Manager Roy Keane was happy with his side's dogged display in the 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. "We took our chances, we stuck at it, people might have seen a different side to us," he said. "We are trying to be a bit more street-wise and we had a bit more steel. We were raw and innocent last season."
Tottenham Hotspur - Goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes admits the 2-1 home defeat to Sunderland was hard to accept. "A home defeat is always difficult to take," he said. "We never really took control of the game, and although Sunderland didn't have many chances, they scored two goals. Having had more chances than Sunderland in the second half but only scoring one goal is difficult to accept.
West Bromwich Albion - Gianni Zuiverloon was happy with his Man-of-the-Match debut in the 2-1 defeat to Everton. The £3.2million Dutch under-21 international started at right-back and said afterwards: "Personally I think it went well for me. I'm happy I was Man-of-the-Match but the result was not so good. I feel good and I'm fit."
