Arsenal - Cesc Fabregas is full of confidence ahead of the Gunners' Champions League second leg qualification match with FC Twente at the Emirates stadium on Wednesday. He said: "We don't have to be afraid of anyone. I think we've seen in the last few seasons we can beat anybody so you have to be positive."

Aston villa Aston Villa - Martin O'Neill thinks Villa will be able to compete in the UEFA Cup proper, should they hold on to their 4-1 first leg lead against FH Hafnarfjordur. They face them in the second leg on Thursday and the manager said: "We are capable of contending, but whether we are good enough is another issue. The only way to be able to cope with that is to have the squad."

 Blackburn Rovers - On-loan Chilean star Carlos Villanueva has been told he will make his debut in Rovers' Carling Cup tie with Grimsby Town on Wednesday night, as Paul Ince hopes to learn more about his squad. The  manager said: "We are going to mix it around for Wednesday. We'll have a look at Carlos up top, he's been a dying to get involved."

 Bolton Wanderers - Gary Megson has vowed to put out his strongest possible team in tonight's Carling Cup match with Northampton Town as the Bolton manager goes in search of Cup glory. "We want to try and win the Carling Cup and the FA Cup, and to be able to do that we must put out our strongest team," he said.

  Chelsea - Following his transfer to AC Milan, Andriy Shevchenko has thanked the Chelsea fans for the support he received during his two seasons at the club. The striker said: "I would like to thank Chelsea Football Club - the fans, staff, players and management - for all the support you gave me during my time at the club. I will always look back with fond memories of my time at this really great club."

 Everton - Assistant manager Steve Round has predicted a return to England action for Toffees pair Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott, both of whom were dropped from the squad that lost to the Czech Republic last week. He said: "I am sure they will figure again in games to come. They are both top players and they will perform well enough for Everton to give Fabio reason to pick them."

 Fulham - After delivering an excellent performance in the 1-0 win against Arsenal on Saturday, Jimmy Bullard has revealed how close he came to being forced to retire, after sustaining a serious knee injury in October 2006. He said: "I know how close I was not being able to play again to be honest so every time I step on that pitch I just try and enjoy 90 minutes of football. At one point it was 'have another operation or hang your boots up'. I stuck in there and did the rehab and I can't thank the surgeon, Dr. Steadman enough. He got my leg back to where it was and if not stronger."

Hull City FC Hull City - Brian Hughes is hoping to use Hull's Carling Cup encounter with Swansea to remind manager Phil Brown what he can do. Having not featured in the first team so far this season,Hughes is expected to make the starting line-up and he is eager to prove himself. He said: "The team has done well and taken four points from two games, but tonight is an opportunity for me to stake a claim."

 Liverpool - Liverpool duo Javier Mascherano and Lucas won't feature in the the Champions League qualifier against Standard Liege. Manager Rafa Benitez said: "If everything is okay, maybe they could play this weekend. They will be around and we will decide, but they cannot play in the Champions League. They're not playing this game so they have time in training and they'll be okay."

 Manchester United - Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to bolster his squad before Monday's transfer deadline. "There's only a week to go and you start to concern yourself a little bit," he said. "I think we showed against Portsmouth that we've got good quality players here. We'd obviously like to add to the squad and we are looking at some things. But it's not easy. We'll have to wait and see what happens about that. We're doing our best - that's all we can do."

Middlesbrough Middlesbrough - Gareth Southgate says Mido is part of his first- team plans and will play against Yeovil in the Carling Cup tonight. Southgate said: "Mido should start tonight. He only returned on Friday from the Sudan, yet came off the bench to score on Saturday. He is part of things, he should realise that by the way he has got on so far."

 Newcastle United - Kevin Keegan is eyeing Carling Cup glory when they meet Coventry City on Tuesday night. "We can win FA and the Carling Cup, they're definitely the two chances we have," said Keegan. "At the moment we've got a chance of winning the league, but that may peter out as the season goes on, it depends on how we play. But I will put out the strongest team I can against Coventry because it is a competition we have to take seriously and it's going to be a tough place to go."

Portsmouth Portsmouth - Harry Redknapp is not getting downhearted as Portsmouth occupy the bottom Barclays Premier League place after defeat to Manchester United on Monday night. He said: "We are a decent team and we'll be a decent team again. I've got players back to fitness and I've got a good squad."

Stoke City Football Club Stoke City - Liam Lawrence reckons Saturday's 3-2 victory over Aston Villa was one of the memorable moments in his career. He said: "It was fantastic it was definitely one of my best days in football by far. To come away from last weekend's defeat and get a victory over a team like Aston Villa is absolutely amazing."

 Sunderland - Roy Keane hopes to finalise the signing of West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand later today. Ferdinand will have a medical on Wearside this morning and if all goes well he will complete a deal to become Keane's ninth summer signing. Keane said: "Anton is up this morning for a medical. It's not dragged on as much as some of other deals. I got permission to speak to him last week and I met him in person, it went really well."

 Tottenham Hotspur - Ledley King says Tottenham must bounce back from their two opening defeats when they take on Chelsea in their next match. He said: "It's been a disappointing start but now we have to pick ourselves up because the next game is Chelsea, so we can't feel sorry for ourselves - we have to continue to work hard. This week will be about lifting the spirits and getting the buzz back around the dressing room."

West Bromwich Albion Football Club West Bromwich Albion - Baggies manager Tony Mowbray hopes to give new £4.7million signing Borja Valero his debut in the Carling Cup at Hartlepool - as long as he gets international clearance in time. "If he is fit and training, I don't see any reason why Borja shouldn't play," said Mowbray. "If he is eligible to play, he will play. The boy just wants to play football. He doesn't mind where it is and he is coming to a team that has got plenty of midfield players."

 West Ham United - West Ham United have issued a club statement regarding Craig Bellamy. West Ham United CEO Scott Duxbury said: "West Ham United have absolutely no intention of selling Craig Bellamy. He is under contract and is committed to the club. Craig remains a very important part of our plans for the future."

Wigan Athletic FC Wigan Athletic - Wigan Athletic take on Notts County in the Carling Cup second round at the JJB Stadium on Tuesday night. Keeper Mike Pollitt says the Latics will give the League Two outfit respect. He said: "They'll come here with nothing to lose and it's a potential banana skin for us so we've got to take the game to them and play like we played against Chelsea. We'll give them the respect they deserve but It would be nice to get a win and hopefully get a few goals as well."
