The centre-back had a positive impact after being signed by manager Roy Hodgson in January.

He was one of the players who helped ensure the relegation fight went to the final day of the season where Fulham defeated Portsmouth 1-0 to stay up.

He said: "I think the lads are just looking forward to the start of a new campaign, trying to prepare and to make sure that we do better and ensure that we're not in the same position as last season.

"We know we have to perform better than we did last season, ensure the quality is there because the determination to succeed has always been there.

"I think if we play like we did towards the end of last season and maybe even a bit better than that and more importantly on a more consistent level then we should be able to finish in a better position this season.

"I don't know too much about our new signings to be honest. The player I probably know most about is Mark Schwarzer; he's a proven Premier League player and has shown his quality time and again over the years. Zoltan [Gera] has looked really sharp in training. I am sure they'll all play their part for us next term."
