Earnshaw, currently in talks with Nottingham Forest over a move to the City Ground, has been left out of a second successive Wales squad.

Wales manager John Toshack named 35 players last week for the friendlies in Iceland on 28th May and Holland on 1st June.

Earnshaw's name was omitted, but coach Dean Saunders said: "Earnshaw needs to find a home where he is wanted, have a season without injuries and start banging goals in.

sharp enough

"He is still young enough but there is no doubt that if he plays like we know he can, he will be back in the squad.

"He had some bad injuries, he moved to a club and wasn't playing even while they were losing. That affected his form and confidence.

"When he was joining up with Wales he hadn't played for three weeks and wasn't anywhere near sharp enough.

"He's a good lad, he wants to play for Wales. But it is getting harder and harder to get into the squad now with the amount of young strikers coming through."
