Everton's Nuno Valente has signed a contract extension to keep him at Goodison Park for a further 12 months.
The club activated a clause in the contract of Valente whose season was hit by injury as he was restricted to 14 starts.
The 33-year-old left-back joined Everton from Porto in 2005 and has made 50 starts for the Toffees.
he regrets
Meanwhile, manager David Moyes admits he regrets not competing in Wednesday evening's UEFA Cup final.
The Toffees were knocked out on penalties by Fiorentina in the last-16 but Moyes will be an interested spectator as Glasgow Rangers and Zenit St Petersburg face eachother at Eastlands.
"I am going to watch the Uefa Cup final with a little bit of disappointment that we weren't in it," said Moyes. "But you have to earn the right, and have a little bit of luck along the way."
