Marcus Hahnemann is happy Reading have their destiny in their own hands as they battle to avoid relegation.
The Royals are just one point above the drop zone with Birmingham City and Fulham fighting to climb out of trouble.
Reading picked up a point in Saturday's goalless draw at Wigan Athletic and goalkeeper Hahnemann believes it could prove to be a valuable one at the end of the season.
The USA international has set his sights on gaining three points against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend to help keep them above Birmingham and Fulham.
"You could look at it [the Wigan match] and say it is two points dropped," he said. "The point we did gain was so valuable because Birmingham drew and Fulham ended up winning, but us just staying ahead of the other two teams Birmingham and Fulham is the ultimate goal here.
catch anyone
"We don't have to catch anyone else, all we have to do is stay above those two teams and that is going to be done by getting more points than them, as simple as that.
"Last week it was three games, now it is down to two games and we are probably going to need a win and a draw or two wins.
"Who knows how they are going to do in their games? "All we can do is play as good as we can, stick together and try to get a win this weekend against Tottenham.
"No matter what happens on the weekend if we don't get anything from Tottenham we will find ourselves in the bottom three so we have to get something. It is not down to what anybody else does, it is only down to what we do."
