Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has launched a spirited defence of midfielder Papa Bouba Diop.
Statistics suggest the Senegal international is the most wayward shooter in the division with 48 shots, no goals and only 15 efforts on target this season, but Redknapp insists he is a priceless commodity in the Pompey side.
"Papa likes a long-range shot but he doesn't score many in training either," he said. "Still, I am not that concerned. He gives us other things. I can't criticise him too much.
hate it
"It is no coincidence we have got better since he came here. He played 10 league games for us before we had a defeat and there have not been many since then.
"You ask opponents if they like playing against him. They hate it.
"He has had to do a job for us on the right lately but in central midfield he is as strong as an ox and so difficult to play against."
