Portsmouth captain Sol Campbell has hailed the impact of team-mate Sylvain Distin.
Pompey have had an excellent season so far, the Fratton Park club are currently sixth in the Barclays Premier League and face West Bromwich Albion in an FA Cup semi-final.
The 30-year-old Frenchman has been superb for Harry Redknapp's side since his arrival from Manchester City and Campbell is surprised that Distin is not a regular for France.
ALL YEAR
Campbell said: "Sylvain has come in here and been massive. He's been excellent all year.
"And for me it's a bit surprising why he hasn't played for France. I'm sure he could. As far as I'm concerned, he's definitely up there with some of the guys I have played with over the years."
The defensive duo will be in action for Portsmouth at home to Wigan Athletic on Saturday as Redknapp's side continue a push for a European finish.
