Blackburn Rovers have signed Switzerland international Johann Vogel after the midfielder impressed on a trial.
Vogel has played at the highest level in Europe with Real Betis, AC Milan, and PSV Eindhoven among his previous clubs.
The 31-year-old defensive midfielder, who captained Switzerland at the 2006 World Cup, was a free agent after being released from Betis following a legal dispute with the club.

Subject to international clearance, Vogel has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the option of a further year.
Vogel has spent the last fortnight training with Rovers and will increase competition in the centre of midfield, where the likes of Tugay, Steven Reid and David Dunn compete for a place.
He has earned 94 caps for Switzerland.
