With Edwin van der Sar injured and Tomasz Kuszczak suspended against Derby County on Saturday, Foster was handed his United debut between the sticks.

Despite impressing in the 1-0 victory over the Rams, Foster has no thoughts of finishing the season as the club's first choice goalkeeper.

The former Watford loanee does not think it would be right to be bumped ahead of either keeper in Sir Alex Ferguson's pecking order, although he is still keen to play first-team football.

different story

"I've only been back from injury two weeks and I was delighted to get the game, but I'm not looking to overtake the other guys," said Foster.

"If I was Edwin van der Sar or Tomasz Kuszczak and I was being kept out of the team I'd be very disappointed.

"I don't expect to be in the team. I may have to go out on loan for the rest of the season to play some games and then maybe next season it will be a different story."
