The Latics lost 2-0 to fellow strugglers Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday and are just one point above the bottom three.

However, Steve Bruce's side did have their chances and Brown believes there were positives to be taken from the match.

"There was some good stuff and at least we're doing well, but we need to do better," he told the club's official website.

"We're under no illusions, we know it's going to be a long run in and we're ready for the fight.

"We're well equipped and I'm sure we will get some results."
