Manchester City totally embraced the spirit of Creating Chances using some of the biggest names at the club (and sport!) to endorse and promote a terrific range of causes:

  • Caudwell Children's Hospice is City's charity of the season and club captain Richard Dunne took Helaina Stone, a girl with an extremely rare condition called Costello Syndrome, for a tour of the Museum of Science and Industry.

  • For the Royal School for the Deaf and Communications Disorders Michael Johnson took part in an able bodied/disabled basketball session with children from the school, including a session of wheelchair basketball. So committed was to the project that he even learned sign-language before attending the event.

  • Sven-Goran Eriksson attended MCFC Over 50s Event - Active Blues Project, a bi-monthly meeting for over-50s from the community around the City of Manchester Stadium. He took part in several activities including indoor bowling and indoor curling.

  • Dietmar Hamann went The Wellspring where he helped to prepare and serve an evening meal in the soup kitchen for the homeless and disadvantaged of Stockport.

  • A group of youngsters taking part the MCFC Getting Manchester Moving Campaign, and working towards their amateur boxing award, taught Micah Richards the skills they had learnt on the course with assistance from Ricky Hatton.
