With the release of the 2016/17 fixtures for Premier League 2, we have been taking a look at some of the stars of last season's competition.

Shayon Harrison could be the next academy prospect to make a first-team impact at Tottenham Hotspur after a rich run of goalscoring form in 2015/16.

The 19-year-old left-footed striker continued his progress with nine goals in 13 Under-21 Premier League appearances last season, along with two goals in three PL Under-21 International Cup matches.

Included in his haul was a hat-trick against league-leaders Sunderland at White Hart Lane in April.

"It's amazing, I'm over the moon," he told tottenhamhotspur.com after sparking the win against the Black Cats.

"I just want to keep scoring goals, keep working hard, and hopefully next season it will be a much more positive season again."

Harrison, who first joined Spurs at Under-10 level, had a spectacular debut season in the Under-18s in 2013/14, scoring 12 times in 22 league matches, with four of those goals coming in a 7-2 win over Chelsea.

He was top scorer for the side the following season with 15 goals in 18 appearances – remarkably hitting another four more against Chelsea as well as a hat-trick against Arsenal.

The teenager also played in all six of the club's FA Youth Cup matches that season, finding the net twice.

By the end of that campaign, he had become a regular for the Under-21s with seven appearances and one goal.

He signed a new contract with Spurs last December and was part of the travelling squad for two UEFA Europa League ties, having trained with the senior side on a number of occasions.

Harrison has also featured in Spurs' recent pre-season fixtures with the first team, scoring against Rotherham and looking lively against Juventus in Melbourne.

He will be hoping for another chance to impress Mauricio Pochettino, the manager who promoted fellow homegrown striker Harry Kane into the first team two seasons ago to such great effect, in Spurs' forthcoming friendly against Inter Milan on 5 August.
