Much focus on Monday’s match between Manchester City and Everton will be on whether Wayne Rooney can become only the second player to score 200 Premier League goals.
But another landmark is up for grabs for Sergio Aguero in the same match.
The next time the Man City striker scores, it will not only be his 124th PL goal. It will also make him the highest-scoring player from outside Europe in the competition’s history.
Aguero’s 70th-minute strike against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend drew the Argentinian level with Trinidad & Tobago forward Dwight Yorke on 123 goals.
He is also ahead of African forwards Didier Drogba (104 goals), Emmanuel Adebayor (97) and Yakubu Ayegbeni (95).
But he faces a bogey team in Everton. Aguero’s two goals in 11 PL matches is his worst scoring ratio of the 30 teams he has struck against in the competition.
