When Arsenal welcome Crystal Palace to Emirates Stadium on Sunday, they will be defending an unbeaten home record in the month of October that stretches back more than 17 years.

The last time the Gunners suffered a Premier League defeat at their own stadium in the month was in 2002, at Highbury where Blackburn Rovers won 2-1.

They have since won 25 and drawn five such matches.

Indeed, since moving to Emirates Stadium in 2006/07 they have never lost a home fixture in October.

This is Arsenal's best month for Premier League points overall as they average 2.11 per match.

It is immediately followed by their worst month, November, when their average drops to 1.59.

So, which months are the best and worst for the present 20 Premier League clubs?

Certainly, the most popular month for clubs is February, with five enjoying their best returns in the shortened period, where FA Cup ties can also reduce the number of Premier League matches.

Indeed, Manchester United's average of 2.25 points per match in February is the best ratio for any club in a single month.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale, the new year is traditionally a tricky period for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls average only 0.38 points per match in January, the worst record of the current Premier League clubs in any month.
