Profile
Lee Probert has been part of the Select Group of referees since 2007, after a successful 11-year career as an official in the Football League.
Probert began his career as a referee in the Conference South before making the step up to the Football League in 1998. He was an assistant referee for five years and was promoted to the list of referees in 2003.
Prior to being elevated to the top flight in the 2007/08 season, Probert was in charge of a League One Play-off semi-final clash between Northampton Town and Torquay United.
Before he made his bow as a Select Group referee in the Premier League, he had been trialled in the top-tier during the previous season, when he took control of Sheffield United’s 1-1 draw with Portsmouth in January 2007.
Since then, he has refereed the 2010 FA Trophy Final and was fourth official for the 2011 FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Stoke City.
In 2010, he became a FIFA-listed referee and is now eligible to officiate UEFA Internationals and matches in the Champions League and Europa League.
