  • Denmark 1-0 Netherlands: Dutch duo Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie look dejected as their side suffer a shock defeat by Denmark.
  • Germany 1-0 Portugal: Man Utd winger Nani hits the bar in Lviv as his team are beaten 1-0 by Germany in their opening match of the tournament.
  • Spain 1-1 Italy: Man City's Mario Balotelli pounds the ground in frustration as a chance goes begging in an exciting match which ends all square.
  • Republic of Ireland 1-3 Croatia: Ireland's return to Euro action ends in heartbreak as Nikica Jelavic helps Croatia to victory.
  • France 1-1 England: Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott rises unmarked in the penalty area to put England ahead in Donetsk.
  • Ukraine 2-1 Sweden: Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko is the hero for Ukraine, scoring twice to give the co-hosts a comeback victory in Kiev.
  • Greece 1-2 Czech Republic: The Czechs score twice in the opening six minutes and survive a second-half comeback from Greece, whose hopes of progressing from Group A now look slim.

  • Spain 4-0 Republic of Ireland: Fernando Torres scores twice for a rampant Spanish side who go top of Group C and send Ireland out of the tournament.
  • Sweden 2-3 England: Two goals from Olof Mellberg put Sweden 2-1 up but Theo Walcott comes off the bench to score the equaliser and then set up the winner for Danny Welbeck.
  • Czech Republic 1-0 Poland: The Czechs spoil the hosts' football party, with Petr Jiracek's goal putting them into the last eight at Poland's expense.
  • Greece 1-0 Russia: Giorgios Karagounis scores the only goal as the 2004 European Champions stun Russia and progress to the last eight.

  • Sweden 2-0 France: Swedish goalscorer Sebastian Larsson tries to stop Franck Ribery as the Swedes prevent France from topping Group D with victory in Kiev.
  • England 1-0 Ukraine: Wayne Rooney scores with a simple header to give England a victory which secures their place in the quarter-finals as Group D winners.
