The Uruguay international was fouled inside the box in the ninth minute, allowing Charlie Adam to step up and convert the penalty.

And the striker provided a precise throughball for Andy Carroll to double their lead on the stroke of half-time as the Baggies suffered only their second home defeat of the campaign.
