Liverpool have made their second signing of the summer with the capture of attacking midfielder Adam Lallana from Southampton.
The 26-year-old, who was part of England's FIFA World Cup squad in Brazil this summer, has signed a long-term contract after completing a medical at the club's training ground.
"I'm so excited for the next chapter of my career, coming to a special club like Liverpool. I'm quite humbled and I just can't wait to get started," he told the club website.
"Hopefully I can settle in quickly, and I will give it my best throughout the whole time I'm here. I hope I can add something to the team and hopefully we can win trophies while I'm here, because that's why I'm here - for success."

Lallana is regarded as one of England's brightest Barclays Premier League talents after establishing himself as a key member of the Southampton first team.
He came through the youth ranks at Bournemouth and then at Southampton before making his first-team debut for the Saints in 2006 and helped them win back-to-back promotions to reach the Barclays Premier League in 2012. The Southampton captain made his Barclays Premier League debut in the defeat by Manchester City in August 2012 and he went on to make 68 top-flight appearances, scoring 12 goals.
"He has leadership skills and personal qualities that make him a special commodity"
He featured in all 38 matches last season as Southampton claimed an impressive eighth-place finish.
"We are delighted to have secured the services of one of the Premier League's top talents in signing Adam Lallana," said Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who led the Reds to second place last season. "What is apparent about Adam is that his character is on a par with his talent. He is an exceptional young man and someone who has a love for the game - and, most importantly, a desire to progress and improve.
"Adam is motivated by being the best he can be and being part of something special. We believe he fits right in with what we are trying to do at Liverpool. We have seen, over the past two seasons in the Barclays Premier League, he has a tactical awareness to adapt to what is required of him and to put the team above his personal ambitions.
"He has leadership skills and personal qualities that make him a special commodity and I am delighted we have acted decisively to make sure he is wearing a Liverpool shirt next season."
Lallana is the second Southampton player to move to Anfield this summer following striker Rickie Lambert's transfer to Liverpool last month.
The duo will not have long to wait until they come up against their former club as Liverpool host Southampton in the first match of the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season on 16 August. Before then Liverpool start their preparations for the 2014/15 season with a pre-season friendly at Brondby on 16 July. To see all their pre-season fixtures, click here.
