Leicester City have agreed the transfer of Leonardo Ulloa from Brighton & Hove Albion with manager Nigel Pearson saying the signing can "move the club forward" as they prepare for their return to the Barclays Premier League.
Pearson admitted he identified Ulloa, 28, as a top transfer target "quite some time ago" and he expressed his delight at adding the striker to his Championship-winning squad.
"He complements the forwards we already have very well and his attributes broaden the options available to us, which will be important this season," said Pearson. "I'm delighted we've been able to add him to the squad.
"He has adapted extremely well to the English game and I'm sure he will have a great deal to offer us in the Premier League"
"He has adapted extremely well to the English game in a relatively short period of time and I'm sure he will have a great deal to offer us in the Premier League."
The Argentinian forward scored 16 goals as Brighton reached the Championship play-offs last season, with his last-gasp goal in a final day win at Nottingham Forest securing a top-six finish, but the Seagulls fell short against Derby County in the semi-finals.
Ulloa found the net 26 times in 58 appearances in all competitions during his 18-month spell at Brighton, having joined from Almeria in January 2013.
The striker began his career in 2002 with second division side CAI in his native Argentina. He joined top-flight side San Lorenzo three years later and, after spells with Arsenal Sarandi and Olimpo, he joined Spanish second division outfit Castellon in 2008.
After netting 30 goals in two seasons with Castellon, Ulloa earned a move to La Liga side Almeria.
Ulloa could not prevent Almeria from relegation, but 28 goals in the second tier caught the attentions of Brighton, and he proved an instant hit after a January move as he helped Brighton secure a top-six finish in the 2012/13 season, which ended in a Championship semi-final defeat to current Barclays Premier League club Crystal Palace.
Leicester City will start the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League with a home match against Everton on 16 August. Ulloa could be in line to make his Leicester debut against the Toffees in a pre-season encounter in Thailand. To view the club's summer fixture list, click here >>
