Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho has given his backing to the club Foundation's Futsal Development Centre programme which aims to use the sport to bring youngsters back into education.
The programme takes place at Haringey Sixth Form Centre in Tottenham and allows 16-18 year-olds the chance to play futsal while studying full-time for a BTEC Diploma in Sport.
"It is great to know the club runs projects like this"
It follows the same model as the Foundation's Education and Football Development Centre programme, which was nominated for a Sports Industry Award.
In the course at Haringey, students receive up to eight hours of futsal training every week from qualified Tottenham Foundation coaches alongside their BTEC studies.
To promote the course, Paulinho visited a group of students, many of whom were from Brazil, and took part in some ball-skill exercises followed by a question-and-answer session.
"It was important for me to see the group, who are at a very early stage of their career, and explain to them that they must make sacrifices to make something of their lives," Paulinho, 25, said. "Tottenham Hotspur means so much to me having joined in the summer and it is great to know that the club runs projects like this."
