Fernando Torres scores Chelsea's winner against Manchester City

Chelsea defeated Manchester City 2-1 in a pulsating match at Stamford Bridge thanks to Fernando Torres' late winner.

The Spanish striker took advantage of a mix up between Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart and Matija Nastasic in the final to stroke the ball home into an empty net.

Torres missed a gilt-edged chance in the first half before producing a driving run to set up Andre Schurrle for the opening goal. Sergio Aguero equalised for City just after the break with a superb strike from the edge of the area.

At White Hart Lane, Tottenham Hotspur recorded a 1-0 victory over Hull City thanks to a Roberto Soldado penalty 10 minutes from time after Ahmed Elmohamady was adjudged to have handled Jan Vertonghen's cross.

In the final 4pm kick-off, Swansea City and West Ham United battled out a 0-0- draw at the Liberty Stadium.
