Fulham extended their lead at the top of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League to four points with victory over Blackburn Rovers at Motspur Park.
Kit Symons’ side had stumbled of late and this was only their second win in five matches but they got off to a great start with Lyle Della Verde opening the scoring on nine minutes. That was the only goal of the first half, and although Rovers started the brighter after the break it was Fulham who got the next goal, as Moussa Dembele scored from the penalty spot after Lasse Vigen Christensen had been fouled by Devran Green.
The home side dominated after the second goal, but it was only late on that they go the third goal. Della Verde was the scorer, sweeping home the ball from the edge of the area.
The victory took Fulham to 35 points, four clear of Liverpool in second, but Fulham have played 17 matches, two more than the Reds, and could still be caught by Chelsea, who have 28 points from 14 matches. Rovers remain bottom of the division with nine points from 16 matches.
