Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Franco Baldini has become their technical director.
The former Bologna, Bari and Pescara player had held roles as general director at Roma and assistant manager during Fabio Capello's reign as England manager and will work with head coach Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood, the head of football development.
"Franco is extremely well respected in the industry"
"Franco is extremely well respected in the industry, possessing an extensive knowledge of players around the world," Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, said. "He will strengthen our football management team, particularly in the field of recruitment, working closely with Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood across all levels on the playing side."
Baldini, 52, will join Spurs ahead of their pre-season, which includes the 2013 Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong, where they are due to play Sunderland on 24 July, before another match against Manchester City or South China three days later.
