Sunderland have completed the signing of midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini from Serie A champions Juventus.
The Italy international, who has signed a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light, joins Paolo Di Canio's charges on the back of a successful stint at the Turin-based club.
Giaccherini, a versatile and attack-minded midfielder who can play through the middle or out wide, won back-to-back Serie A titles during his two-year spell at Juventus and has been capped 14 times for his country.
He featured twice at UEFA Euro 2012 as the Azzurri finished runners-up to Spain and also helped Cesare Prandelli's side reach the FIFA Confederations Cup semi-final in Brazil this summer, playing in all of their matches.
The diminutive 28-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last three years after beginning his career with Cesena and spending loan spells in Italy's lower leagues with Forli, Bellaria Igea and Pavia.
He moved to Juventus in August 2011 and made 40 league appearances for the Bianconeri, scoring four goals, before opting to move to Wearside.
Di Canio's eighth summer signing, who has joined up with the Black Cats at their training camp at Peschiera del Garda, is set to make his Sunderland debut at the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong later this month.
