Southampton left-back Luke Shaw has signed a new five-year contract at the club.
The signing was done on Friday, his 18th birthday, and Shaw, who has been at Southampton since he was 8, was delighted.
"I've come back very, very fit and better than last season, so I can't wait to get started"
"I'm very pleased to have finally signed it," Shaw, who made 25 appearances in the Barclays Premier League last season, said. "I committed myself back in January, and I'm glad everything has been sorted out.
"I've been getting a lot of questions about my future, but all of the Saints fans will have known that I committed my future in January. The players, the staff, the medical team and the fitness coaches have all helped me come this far.
"The manager has done a lot for me – especially for my fitness – and this year is going to be a big year for me. I've come back very, very fit and better than last season, so I can't wait to get started."
Southampton have also announced that Lloyd Isgrove has signed a new contract at the club. Isgrove was a regular for Southampton in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League, making 17 appearances and scoring four goals. The 20-year-old midfielder made his first-team debut in the Capital One Cup last season and is looking to make more senior appearances this forthcoming campaign.
"I've been in the Development Squad for a couple of years, and now the next stage is to try and push on and get into the First Team,” Isgrove said. “I've signed this contract because I want to get into the squad.”
