Tottenham Hotspur forward Gareth Bale and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie have made the 10-man shortlist for the 2012/13 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award.
Bale, 23, had a superb season for Spurs, scoring 21 goals in 33 Barclays Premier League appearances and his achievements were recognised with a long list of honours.
He won the Barclays Player of the Season, the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year and become only the third player to win the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in the same season.
Bale is due to travel to Hong Kong this month to take part in the Barclays Asia Trophy, which takes place between 24-27 July. Yesterday a huge billboard of the player was unveiled in Times Square, New York, to publicise NBC's coverage of the Barclays Premier League from the 2013.14 season.
Van Persie also had a campaign to remember at Old Trafford following his move from Arsenal last summer. He scored 26 goals, winning the Barclays Golden Boot for the second year in a row, helping United claim the Barclays Premier League title for the 13th time.
Four members of Bayern Munich's treble-winning side are on the shortlist, Thomas Muller, Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben and Bastian Schweinsteiger, alongside Borussia Dortmund's UEFA Champions League finalist Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona playmaker Lionel Messi, who won the first award in 2011, Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo and Paris St Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic make up the shortlist.
Votes cast by a jury of journalists from each of UEFA's member associations will determine the final top-three nominees, which will be announced on 6 August, with the winner being revealed at the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League group stage draw on 29 August.
