Everton manager Roberto Martinez has completed the signings of two players who who featured for his Wigan Athletic side last season. Defender Antolin Alcaraz arrives on a two-year deal, while goalkeeper Joel Robles joins from Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal, having been on loan at Wigan last season.
"The first impression here is, what a great club"
Alcaraz, 30, is reunited with Martinez after his contract with Wigan expired at the end of the season.
"The first impression here is, what a great club," he told the club's website. "And I am really feeling very enthusiastic for the new challenge in my career."
Alcaraz made 69 Barclays Premier League appearances for the Latics after joining the club from Club Brugge in 2010.
The Paraguay centre-half suffered a groin injury in August which ruled him out for six months but he returned in time for the season run-in and to start in the FA Cup Final against Manchester City in May which his side won 1-0.
He made a total of 14 appearances in all competitions last season and his value to the side was evident in the fact that six of those matches resulted in a clean sheet.
Robles, 23, also was a regular in the Wigan defence during the latter half of last season, having joined from Atletico in January and was in the team who beat Manchester City at Wembley in May. He was recently in Turkey as part of Spain's winning squad in the UEFA Under-21 European Championships.
The pair take Martinez's signings to three since he moved to Goodison Park from the DW Stadium, with former Wigan striker Arouna Kone agreeing a three-year deal on Monday. All three travel to Austria for Everton's pre-season training with a friendly against Austria Vienna taking place on Sunday.
