Chelsea have announced the signing of Marco van Ginkel from Vitesse Arnhem.
The 20-year-old Netherlands midfielder has signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge and is Chelsea’s second recruit of the summer, after Andre Schurrle.
“I'm very happy to be here at such a nice club with great players,” Van Ginkel told the Chelsea website. “I am really happy, the stadium is good and the training ground is fantastic.
“I know about all the players and will meet them on Monday. I expect a lot, I've watched matches and it's really nice to be here.'
"I wanted to make a step up and Chelsea was a good opportunity"

Van Ginkel came up through the youth system at Vitesse before making his senior debut in the 2009/10 season, aged 17. He has one cap for the Netherlands, against Germany last November, and has just represented the Under-21s at the European Championships in Israel last month.
Last season Van Ginkel, who is 6ft 1in, scored 11 goals in 41 appearances in total for Vitesse, who finished fourth in the Eredivisie.
“It was a good season and I think that's why I am here,” Van Ginkel said. “I wanted to make a step up and Chelsea was a good opportunity.
“I am a box-to-box player. I cover a lot of metres and can score a goal, but I also like to defend and think of myself as a real team player.”
Van Ginkel will meet his new team-mates nest week when pre-season training starts.
“I look forward to it a lot,” he said. “It's not scary, but I will be a little bit nervous maybe! Playing with players like Frank Lampard and John Terry will be a huge thing. I played three years at Vitesse, but the Premier League is very good, and I will enjoy playing with these players with this experience."
