The 20-year-old French striker joins, subject to the completion of formal registration processes, after his contract with Auxerre had expired. Sanogo scored 11 goals in 24 appearances for Auxerre, of which 10 came from 13 matches last season for the Ligue 2 side.

“Sanogo is a good young signing for us,” Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, said. “He has shown that he has potential with his recent performances for Auxerre and also for the France Under-20 side. We are looking forward to Yaya joining us and continuing his promising development.”

Sanogo is playing for France in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Turkey, where his two goals from three matches have helped his team reach the last 16, where they will face Turkey at 7pm BST today.
