Kozak injury blow for Aston Villa

Libor Kozak has scored four goals in 14 Barclays Premier League appearances this season

Aston Villa striker Libor Kozak has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a broken leg.

The 24-year-old is to have surgery on Friday after picking up the injury in training on Thursday with the club saying on their website: "Regretfully, he will play no further part this season."

The Czech Republic forward, who was top scorer in the UEFA Europa League for Lazio last season, joined Villa in the summer. He has scored four goals in 14 Barclays Premier League appearances, of which eight were starts, including the winner against Norwich City in September.

Villa host Sheffield United in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday while Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor are likely to lead the line in their next Barclays Premier League match against Arsenal on Monday, 13 January.
