Stoke City have announced that Juan Agudelo has signed a pre-contract agreement with them.
The 20-year-old United States striker will join the club when the next transfer window opens on 1 January, 2014, once his contract with New England Revolution has expired.
Agudelo has scored five goals in 13 appearances for New England, after joining from Chivas USA last year. He has won 17 caps for the US, scoring two goals.
Stoke manager Mark Hughes was delighted with the signing, who will become the fourth American at the Britannia Stadium, after Geoff Cameron, Maurice Edu and Brek Shea.
"It's a good deal for us, because he is a very good young player who boasts a lot of talent as well as a lot of potential, too," Hughes told the club's website. "I've known of him for a couple of years now. He burst on to the scene for the United States at the age of 17 and everybody has paid attention to him since.
"I have kept my eye on him for the last 18 months, and thankfully we were in a position where we were able to pull this deal off."
