Soldado completes move to Spurs

Spain striker becomes the club's third signing of summer after passing medical

  • Soldado has become Tottenham Hotspur's third summer signing

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Roberto Soldado after the Spain striker passed a medical.

Spurs announced last week that they had reached agreement with Valencia for the transfer of the 28-year-old, who scored 24 goals in 33 Spanish Liga appearances for Los Che last season.

"We are delighted to confirm the signing of Roberto Soldado from Valencia after the player successfully completed his medical," read a statement on the club's website.

Soldado joined Valencia from Getafe in 2010, scoring 59 times in 101 top-flight appearances, and has also played for Real Madrid and Osasuna.

The centre-forward has scored six times in 11 appearances for Spain and was part of the squad that played in this summer's FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Tottenham Hotspur say they expect Soldado to be available for the club's final pre-season friendly of the summer which is against Espanyol on 10 August at White Hart Lane.

Soldado is head coach Andre Villas-Boas's third signing of the summer following the captures of Paulinho and Nacer Chadli.

Spurs begin their 2013/14 Barclays Premier League campaign at Crystal Palace on 18 August.
