Fulham have signed Scott Parker from Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.

The 32-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal to June 2016 and is set to become the first player to have played in the Barclays Premier League for five clubs in London.

Having started his career at Charlton Athletic, Parker moved to Chelsea in January 2004. After struggling for first-team chances at Stamford Bridge he moved to Newcastle United, where he spent a couple of seasons before returning to the capital with West Ham United in August 2007. Four years later he was signed by Spurs.

In total Parker has appeared in 339 Barclays Premier League matches, scoring 22 goals.

“I’m delighted to be joining Fulham and I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates at training tomorrow morning,” Parker said. “Fulham is an established Premier League club and I look forward to trying to help the team progress even further over the next three years.”

Fulham manager Martin Jol also expressed his happiness at the signing.

“He’s a midfielder who works tirelessly for his team and is a fantastic player both on and off the ball,” Jol said. “It is wonderful to see a player of his stature playing for Fulham Football Club as he has shown his qualities in the Premier League and for the England team for many years. I’m happy that he’s here and joins us for training ahead of our first home match of the season.”

That match is against Arsenal in the early 12.45pm on Saturday 24 August.
