Fulham have confirmed the signing of striker Darren Bent on a season-long-loan from Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old has been at Villa since January 2011 after signing from Sunderland and has scored 21 goals in 54 Barclays Premier League matches for the club. He struggled for first-time chances at Villa Park last season and is now reunited with manager Martin Jol, who signed the England forward for Tottenham Hotspur from Charlton Athletic in 2007.
"I'm delighted that he has joined us, he gives us pace up front"
"Darren Bent is a striker I have always admired," Jol told the Fulham website. "He has shown in the Barclays Premier League that he is composed and clinical in front of goal but, even if he is not scoring, he is involved in some good link-up play, creating opportunities for his team-mates.
"I'm delighted that he has joined us, he gives us pace up front and I am confident that he will add to our goals scored tally this season."
Bent began his career at Ipswich Town before moving to Charlton in 2005. He has scored a total of 103 Barclays Premier League goals in 245 matches and is 21st on the all-time top-scorer list.
He is the seventh signing made by Fulham this summer, following the arrivals of Derek Boateng, Fernando Amorebieta, Maarten Stekelenburg, Giorgos Karagounis, Sascha Riether, and Adel Taarabt.
Fulham begin their campaign away to Sunderland on Saturday, 17 August.
The club have also announced that Sascha Riether has signed a new two-year deal with the option of a further year to the summer of 2016.
Crystal Palace have signed left-sided defender Florian Marange on a free transfer. The 27-year-old has Frenchman agreed a one-year deal and appeared last season for Bordeaux, for whom he made almost 100 appearances.
He is Ian Holloway's ninth summer signing. Palace face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in their first match since winning promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
