With the start of the new Barclays Premier League season just a week away, to get people in the mood for the action of next weekend, the best 10 images that captured the essence and emotion of the previous campaign have been revealed.

Barclays, title sponsor of the Premier League, has announced the shortlists for the 2013 Barclays Shot of the Season and Photographer of the Season awards.

All professional photographers were allowed to enter for the awards and Barclays has chosen a range of images that "captured the essence and emotion of the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League season" in the best manner.

The awards have been going on for 11 years and run alongside other official honours from the league’s title sponsors: Barclays Player and Manager of the Month, Barclays Player and Manager of the Season, The Barclays Golden Boot and The Barclays Golden Glove.

The 2012/13 campaign had the joint-highest goal return in Barclays Premier League history and there were plenty of memorable moments to choose from. Ten images made the cut for the Barclays Shot of the Season. The winner will be awarded £5,000 to spend on photographic equipment.
