Arsenal have been drawn against Turkish side Fenerbahce in the UEFA Champions League play-offs.

Fenerbahce finished second in the Turkish league last season but await a final ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over whether they will be allowed to go into the tournament proper this season, having been banned by UEFA for match-fixing in domestic competition.

Arsenal will travel first to Istanbul on Wednesday, 21 August and the second leg will take place six days later at the Emirates Stadium. The two sides met in the UEFA Champions League group stages five years ago, when Arsenal won 5-2 in Istanbul and were held to a goalless draw at the Emirates. Former Barclays Premier League players at Fenerbahce are Dirk Kuyt, Raulo Meireles and Emre.

In the UEFA Europa League, Tottenham Hotspur, who reached the last eight the previous season, have been drawn to play Dinamo Tbilisi in the play-off round.

Swansea City, who reached this stage with a 4-0 aggregate win over Malmo in qualifying on Thursday night, will face Petrolul Ploiesti, of Romania. Swansea will be at home for their first leg, on 22 August, and travel to Romania a week later.

Spurs will travel to Georgia on 22 August, before the return leg at White Hart Lane a week later. The two teams faced each 40 years ago in the UEFA Cup, with Spurs winning 6-2 on aggregate.
