Jem Karacan joy at extending Reading stay

Midfielder signs deal that will keep him at Reading until 2015

Jem Karacan, right, has committed himself to Reading until 2015

Reading midfielder Jem Karacan has signed a new deal with the club, keeping him at Madejski Stadium until the summer of 2015.

Karacan, 23, is in his ninth year at Reading, having joined the club's Academy system in 2003 and, having helped them to secure a return to the Barclays Premier League, he has made two league appearances this season.

“I’m delighted to finally get it done, we’ve been in negotiations for a little while so it’s great to put pen to paper,” he told the club's website. “To come through the ranks at Reading has been brilliant. Ever since I arrived here, I’ve always wanted to become a first team regular and in the last couple of years I’ve managed to do that.”

Reading manager Brian McDermott also expressed his delight at securing Karacan's future.

"He has been an integral part of what we’ve been trying to achieve for quite some time now," McDermott said. "He’s a great lad who is very much one of our own and we are really pleased that he has signed this new deal."
